Best Accounting Software in Saudi Arabia: Odoo vs Qoyod, Zoho Books
Best accounting software in Saudi Arabia for 2026: Odoo, Qoyod, Zoho Books and QuickBooks compared on ZATCA Phase 2, SAR pricing, POS, stock and growth.
Most lists of the best accounting software in Saudi Arabia rank logos and skip the hard part: proving each system clears and reports your real invoices with ZATCA. Our Odoo implementation services team compares Odoo, Qoyod, Zoho Books and QuickBooks on that test, then on price and growth.
This guide is for owners, CFOs and finance managers in the Kingdom choosing a system before their ZATCA wave date. If you already lean to Odoo and want the technical setup, read our Odoo ZATCA Phase 2 guide to CSID onboarding, clearance and POS.
What should the best accounting software in Saudi Arabia do in 2026?
The best accounting software in Saudi Arabia must issue ZATCA Phase 2 invoices, print Arabic documents and handle 15% VAT before anything else. Features, price and design come after that gate.
ZATCA's e-invoicing page dates Phase 1 to 4 December 2021 and Phase 2, the integration phase, to 1 January 2023, rolled out in waves. ZATCA notifies each wave in advance, and the waves now reach small businesses.
ZATCA's Wave 25 announcement covers taxpayers whose VAT-subject revenue passed SAR 187,500 in 2022, 2023, 2024 or 2025, with integration due by 1 February 2027. That pulls shops, cafes, clinics and small traders into scope.
So any system on your shortlist must do these things:
- Sign and send: generate UBL 2.1 XML invoices with a cryptographic stamp and connect to the Fatoora platform.
- Clear B2B: send standard tax invoices to ZATCA for clearance before you share them with the buyer.
- Report B2C: report simplified invoices, including POS receipts, within 24 hours.
- Arabic: print invoices, credit notes and debit notes in Arabic, with English allowed alongside.
- Never reset: keep an invoice counter and hash chain that cannot be reset or deleted.
- Cover every channel: handle invoices from POS, eCommerce and marketplaces, not only the ones your accountant types.
How do Odoo, Qoyod, Zoho Books and QuickBooks compare at a glance?

Qoyod and Zoho Books are accounting apps with light inventory, QuickBooks is a global app without confirmed native Phase 2 in the Kingdom, and Odoo is a full ERP with ZATCA built in. The table sums up what buyers ask us most.
| Factor | Odoo | Qoyod | Zoho Books | QuickBooks Online |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Type | Full ERP, apps on one database | Saudi cloud accounting | Cloud accounting in the Zoho suite | Global cloud accounting |
| ZATCA Phase 2 | Native modules by Odoo S.A. | From the Pro plan | From the Standard plan | Not confirmed natively; third-party apps |
| Arabic documents | Yes, Arabic as second language | Yes | Arabic or bilingual | Not confirmed natively |
| Inventory | Full, multi-warehouse | Pro and Advanced plans | Professional plan and up | Basic, higher plans only |
| Manufacturing | MRP, work orders, quality | Manufacturing orders on Advanced | Not included | Not included |
| POS | Odoo POS with ZATCA reporting | Paid add-on per POS user | Not part of Zoho Books | Not included |
| Several companies | Built in, one database | Separate subscription per business | Separate organizations | Separate subscriptions |
| Best fit | Growing firms with stock, POS or branches | Small Saudi firms, simple needs | Service firms and Zoho users | Firms tied to a global QuickBooks group |
Which accounting software is ZATCA Phase 2 approved?
ZATCA does not certify a single winner: it keeps an indicative list of solution providers, and a taxpayer whose system meets the rules is compliant even if the vendor is not listed. So ask each vendor to show Phase 2 working on your own invoice types.
Here is where each option stands from its own official pages:
- Odoo: the Odoo Saudi Arabia localization lists `l10n_sa_edi` for ZATCA clearance and reporting and `l10n_sa_edi_pos` for POS receipts, plus withholding tax and retention.
- Zoho Books: its Saudi e-invoicing page says it is "a ZATCA approved Phase 2 e-invoicing compliant solution", with CSID onboarding through a Fatoora OTP.
- Qoyod: says it is on ZATCA's list of approved Phase 2 solution providers, and its help center shows Phase 2 only on the Pro and Advanced plans.
- QuickBooks: in December 2024 an Intuit team member wrote that QuickBooks Online Global "will have the e-invoicing soon", with no release date.
We could not find an Intuit page confirming native Phase 2 for Saudi Arabia as of 1 November 2026. A second Intuit moderator reply points users to third-party apps from the QuickBooks App Store.
A connector can work, but it adds one more vendor, one more failure point and one more contract to renew. Test it with B2B, B2C and credit notes before you trust it.
How much does accounting software cost in Saudi Arabia?
Qoyod and Zoho Books cost less to start because they price per business with a few users included, while Odoo prices per user and includes every app. The lowest entry price is not always the lowest cost by year two.
| System | Entry plan with Phase 2 | Users included | What costs extra |
|---|---|---|---|
| Qoyod | Pro: SAR 2,070 a year incl. VAT | 3 users, 3 locations | POS SAR 600 per POS user a year; extra user SAR 240; payroll SAR 120 per employee |
| Zoho Books | Standard: SAR 60 a month billed annually, excl. VAT | 3 users | Extra user SAR 8 a month billed annually; inventory from Professional (SAR 90) |
| QuickBooks Online | No native Phase 2 plan confirmed | Varies | A third-party ZATCA app |
| Odoo | Standard: US$31.10 per user a month billed yearly (US list) | Each user licensed | Implementation; Custom plan (US$61.00) for multi-company, Studio and API |
Prices come from Zoho Books Saudi pricing, Qoyod's help center and the Odoo pricing page. Odoo shows local prices by country, so confirm the Saudi figure at checkout. New Odoo customers get a first-year discount.
Odoo also has a One App Free plan for unlimited users on a single app. That can suit a company that only needs invoicing, but ZATCA, stock and POS together need a paid plan.
An illustrative example: five full users on Odoo Standard at the US list price cost about US$1,866 a year in licenses. Add a one-time setup; our published ranges start at $3,000 to $9,000 for small projects over 4 to 8 weeks.
Our Odoo implementation cost guide lists mid-size projects at $9,000 to $27,000 over 8 to 14 weeks, and data migration at $1,200 to $9,000 depending on the source system and years of history.
Odoo vs Qoyod: when is a Saudi cloud app enough?
Qoyod is enough for a small Saudi firm with one company, simple stock and a few users; Odoo makes sense once POS, warehouses, manufacturing or several entities drive your accounting. Odoo vs Qoyod is really a question of scope.
Qoyod's strengths are clear. It is built for the Saudi market, its plans are priced in SAR, and its Pro plan connects to Salla, Zid, Zapier and an API. For a trading firm with three users, that covers a lot.
The limits show as you grow. Qoyod's help center states that "each business requires a separate subscription", caps users and locations per plan, and keeps manufacturing orders, fixed assets and budgets on the Advanced plan only.
Odoo runs several companies in one database with intercompany entries, and its inventory, purchase, POS and manufacturing apps post to accounting as stock moves. If you sell online through Salla, Odoo can turn those orders into ZATCA invoices through a connector.
Zoho Books vs Odoo in Saudi Arabia: which fits better?
Zoho Books fits service firms and Zoho-first teams that want low-cost, ZATCA-ready accounting; Odoo fits firms where accounting must follow stock, production and branches. Both issue Phase 2 invoices in Arabic.
Zoho Books says it can push B2B and B2C invoices to Fatoora in Arabic or bilingually, and generates them for credit and debit notes too. Its Saudi plans run from a free plan to Ultimate at SAR 660 a month billed annually for 15 users.
The gap is operations. Zoho Books does not include manufacturing or a till, so a retailer or manufacturer adds other Zoho apps or other vendors. Each extra system is one more place an invoice can miss ZATCA.
If you already run Zoho CRM or Desk, you can keep them and move only finance and stock to Odoo. Our Odoo vs Zoho comparison covers the wider suite, and the Zoho to Odoo migration checklist covers the move.
Can you use QuickBooks in Saudi Arabia with ZATCA?
You can keep QuickBooks in Saudi Arabia only by adding a third-party ZATCA connector, because Intuit has not confirmed native Phase 2 e-invoicing for the Kingdom. That is workable for a small branch of a global group, but risky as your main ledger.
QuickBooks users in the Kingdom have asked about this for a long time. On Intuit's own community, a moderator replied, "At the moment, we don't have an estimated timeline for ZATCA to be supported or available in QBO."
If you choose a connector, check four things:
- Coverage: does it clear B2B invoices and report B2C receipts, or only print a QR code?
- Notes: does it handle credit and debit notes with ZATCA reasons?
- Failures: what happens to an invoice when the connector or Fatoora is down?
- Ownership: who fixes it when ZATCA changes a rule, and is that in the contract?
Many QuickBooks users in the Gulf move once the connector cost and the Arabic gaps add up. Our QuickBooks to Odoo migration service moves customers, vendors, open items and opening balances.
Is Odoo ready for ZATCA Phase 2 out of the box?
Yes for supported versions: Odoo's Saudi localization handles ZATCA onboarding, clearance, reporting and POS without a third-party module. The work is in data, journals and testing, not in buying an add-on.
In Odoo you onboard each sales journal with a one-time password from the Fatoora portal. Odoo then gets a compliance CSID, runs ZATCA's compliance checks and requests a production CSID. Odoo's documentation also covers Arabic as a second language and retention invoices.
Real users trip on master data. On the Odoo forum, a ZATCA journal onboarding error came down to the company record and certificate fields, not the API.
Hosting matters too. Odoo Online cannot run custom or Odoo Apps Store modules, so on Odoo Online the native localization is the only route, which is usually the safer one.
If you are not sure your revenue puts you in the current wave, start with our ZATCA Wave 25 scope test and plan to February 2027.
Which accounting software fits your industry in Saudi Arabia?
Service firms can stay on a simple app, while retail, distribution, manufacturing and contracting usually need accounting tied to operations. The table shows where each sector's ZATCA risk sits.
| Industry | Pain or cost driver | Odoo approach | How iVentureTeam helps |
|---|---|---|---|
| Retail and F&B | Many POS receipts reported within 24 hours | Odoo POS with ZATCA simplified invoice reporting | Onboard each till journal, test receipts and printers |
| Wholesale and distribution | Stock, branches and B2B clearance volume | Inventory, purchase and one journal per branch | Design journals and branch data before onboarding |
| Manufacturing | Costing tied to production, not just invoices | MRP, BOMs and work orders posting to accounting | Map production and valuation, then go live |
| Contracting and services | Retention, progress billing and withholding tax | Retention taxes and withholding in the Saudi localization | Set up retention invoices and WHT returns |
| eCommerce | Online orders must become valid invoices | Website and connectors creating Odoo invoices | Connect Salla or Shopify and test the flow |
| Holding groups | Several CRs and VAT numbers | Multi-company in one database | Set up intercompany and consolidated reports |
How do you switch accounting software before your ZATCA deadline?
Switch with a dated plan: choose the system, clean master data, test in ZATCA's simulation environment, then go live journal by journal well before your wave date. A rushed move in the last month is where errors start.
- Confirm your wave: check your VAT-subject revenue for each year against the threshold and note your integration date.
- Shortlist on your invoices: list every invoice type you issue, from B2B and B2C to credit notes and exports, and test each in a trial.
- Clean data: fix VAT numbers, CRNs, buyer IDs and Arabic addresses for customers, vendors and your own company.
- Move open items: bring customers, vendors, products, open invoices and opening balances; keep closed years in the old system as an archive.
- Test in simulation: run every invoice type until ZATCA returns no errors or warnings.
- Go live in steps: onboard journals and tills one at a time and watch responses daily for two weeks.

Saudi accounting software case study: Arabic receipts for a Middle East retailer
A Middle East retail business turned single-language Odoo POS slips into bilingual Arabic-English receipts in 3 weeks. The project predates Phase 2, but it shows the receipt work Saudi retailers still face.
The retailer ran Odoo 11 Point of Sale, whose standard receipt printed in one language. Arabic-speaking customers could not read English-only slips, while audit needs favored English line items next to Arabic.
We rebuilt the receipt template so product names, taxable and non-taxable amounts, subtotal and total print in both scripts, with right-to-left Arabic rendered correctly. Printing ran through a Raspberry Pi at each POS station.
Cashiers did not gain any extra steps, and future changes such as VAT fields became template edits. Read the bilingual Arabic POS receipts case study.
The bottom line on the best accounting software in Saudi Arabia
Choose Qoyod or Zoho Books if you are a small firm with simple books; choose Odoo when stock, POS, branches or several companies shape your accounting; keep QuickBooks only with a tested ZATCA connector. Whatever you pick, prove Phase 2 on your own invoices.
Start from your wave date and work back. Shortlist two systems, test every invoice type in simulation, and price three years, not one. The answer is usually clear after that.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best accounting software in Saudi Arabia?
+
There is no single best. Qoyod and Zoho Books suit small firms with simple books, while Odoo suits growing companies that need accounting tied to stock, POS, manufacturing and several companies. All must pass ZATCA Phase 2.
Is Odoo ZATCA Phase 2 compliant?
+
Odoo's Saudi localization includes native ZATCA modules for clearance, reporting and POS receipts, built by Odoo S.A. You still need to onboard each journal with a Fatoora OTP and test in simulation before going live.
Is Qoyod ZATCA approved?
+
Qoyod says it is on ZATCA's list of approved Phase 2 solution providers. Phase 2 is only on its Pro and Advanced plans, so the Basic plan covers Phase 1 only.
Does Zoho Books support ZATCA Phase 2?
+
Yes. Zoho Books says it is a ZATCA approved Phase 2 solution and offers e-invoicing from the Standard plan, with invoices in Arabic or bilingual and CSID onboarding through a Fatoora OTP.
Can I use QuickBooks in Saudi Arabia?
+
You can, but Intuit has not confirmed native ZATCA Phase 2 support for Saudi Arabia, and its community points users to third-party apps. Test any connector on B2B, B2C and credit notes.
Does accounting software need to be on ZATCA's list?
+
No. ZATCA keeps an indicative list of solution providers and says a taxpayer whose system meets the requirements is compliant even if the provider is not listed. Test the system on your own invoices.
How much does Qoyod cost?
+
Qoyod's help center lists Basic at SAR 1,380, Pro at SAR 2,070 and Advanced at SAR 3,795 a year including VAT. POS, payroll, extra users and extra locations are paid add-ons.
Which is better for retail in Saudi Arabia, Odoo or Zoho Books?
+
Odoo usually fits retail better, because its POS reports receipts to ZATCA and shares stock and accounting in one database. Zoho Books does not include a till, so you would add another system.
When is the ZATCA Wave 25 deadline?
+
ZATCA set 1 February 2027 as the Wave 25 integration deadline for taxpayers whose VAT-subject revenue passed SAR 187,500 in any year from 2022 to 2025.
