Odoo 20 vs Zoho One: Cost and Capability Comparison
Odoo 20 vs Zoho One compared on cost and features: Light Users, the all-employee rule, worked pricing for 15 to 100 staff, AI credits and manufacturing.
Odoo 20 changed the math behind every Odoo vs Zoho One quote. A new Light User price, a higher Custom plan and credit-based AI all move the total. Our Odoo implementation services start by pricing your real user mix on both sides.
This deep dive is for owners, CFOs and IT leads pricing Odoo 20 as a Zoho One alternative with real headcounts. For a broader criterion-by-criterion view, see our Odoo vs Zoho One comparison page.
How much does Odoo 20 cost compared with Zoho One?
Odoo 20 charges per full user plus a low Light User price, while Zoho One charges per employee or per user for one bundle of apps. The list prices below are the US figures we checked in October 2026.
| Price item | Odoo 20 | Zoho One |
|---|---|---|
| Main plan, billed yearly | Standard US$31.10 per user a month | All-employee US$37 per employee a month |
| Higher plan, billed yearly | Custom US$61.00 per user a month | Flexible US$90 per user a month |
| First-year price | Standard US$24.90, Custom US$49.00 | Not listed |
| Self-service staff | Light User US$8.90 a month | Licensed like everyone else |
| Monthly billing | Costs more than yearly; not used here | US$45 all-employee, US$105 flexible |
| Free option | One App Free, unlimited users | Free trial |
The Odoo figures come from the Odoo pricing page. In India, Odoo Standard is Rs 725 and Custom Rs 1,350 per user a month, with Light Users at Rs 195.
The Zoho figures come from the Zoho One pricing page. When we checked, the US page also showed a promotional flexible price of US$67. Local taxes are extra.
What is Zoho One all-employee pricing, and who has to be licensed?
Zoho One's all-employee price is US$37 per employee a month billed annually, but only if you license every person on payroll. Zoho's pricing page states it plainly: "Your business will have to commit to purchase Zoho One licenses for ALL employees on payroll."
That suits companies where nearly everyone works in Zoho daily. It hurts firms with many drivers, packers or shop-floor staff who rarely open a business app.
The flexible plan avoids the rule but costs US$90 per user. Outside users can also be a surprise. One Zoho One customer wrote on the Zoho Community: "if I want my accountant to have access to Books, I need to pay for a monthly Zoho One license."
How do Odoo 20 Light Users change the comparison?
Odoo 20 Light Users let self-service staff use Odoo for under a third of a Standard user's price, which is where Odoo 20 pulls ahead on cost. They cover time off, expenses, attendance, payslips, Point of Sale and barcode work.
There is a catch that mirrors Zoho's rule. Odoo's Enterprise agreement counts any active employee record not linked to a full login as a Light User. So Odoo 20 also prices most of your workforce, just at US$8.90 instead of US$37.
- Full user needed: anyone who creates quotes, purchase orders, projects or accounting entries.
- Easy to miss: managers who approve leave and staff who log project timesheets.
- Buying rule: Odoo sells Light Users through an Odoo Advisor quote, and news reports say at least one full user is required.
Odoo also raised its Custom plan by about 20% with Odoo 20 while leaving Standard unchanged, as the Brussels Times reported on 24 September 2026. Our Odoo 20 Light User guide covers the role rules in detail.
Odoo 20 vs Zoho One cost scenarios for 15, 40 and 100 employees
In all three illustrative scenarios, Odoo 20 Standard costs less per year than either Zoho One plan when only part of the team needs full access. Odoo Custom narrows the gap but still comes in below both Zoho plans.
These are illustrative license costs from US list prices billed yearly. They exclude tax, implementation, AI credits and discounts.
| Scenario | Odoo 20 Standard | Odoo 20 Custom | Zoho One all-employee | Zoho One flexible (full users only) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 15 staff: 6 full, 9 self-service | US$266.70 a month (US$3,200 a year) | US$446.10 (US$5,353) | US$555 (US$6,660) | US$540 (US$6,480) |
| 40 staff: 15 full, 25 self-service | US$689 (US$8,268) | US$1,137.50 (US$13,650) | US$1,480 (US$17,760) | US$1,350 (US$16,200) |
| 100 staff: 30 full, 70 self-service | US$1,556 (US$18,672) | US$2,453 (US$29,436) | US$3,700 (US$44,400) | US$2,700 (US$32,400) |
How we built each row:
- Odoo prices full users at Standard or Custom, and self-service staff as Light Users.
- Zoho One all-employee prices every employee at US$37.
- Zoho One flexible licenses only full users at US$90, so self-service staff get no access.
In year one, Odoo's first-year price lowers the 40-staff Standard case to about US$596 a month. Odoo renewals can rise up to 7% a year under its subscription agreement, so model five years, not one.
What costs sit outside the license on both sides?
Implementation, data migration, integrations and AI usage often matter more than the license gap. Price them on both sides before you compare totals.
- Implementation: our published Odoo ranges are US$3k to US$9k for small projects, US$9k to US$27k for mid-size and US$27k to US$150k+ for large ones. They are ranges, not quotes.
- Data migration: US$1.2k to US$9k for Odoo, depending on the source system and years of history.
- Zoho setup: Zoho offers its own onboarding services and a partner network; partner rates vary by scope.
- AI usage: Odoo 20 AI spends prepaid credits, covered below.
- Odoo Custom features: Studio, multi-company, the external API and Odoo.sh or on-premise hosting need the Custom plan.
See our Odoo implementation cost guide for what drives each range, including timelines from 4 to 24 weeks.
Odoo 20 vs Zoho One capability matrix

Odoo 20 leads where you make, store and account for physical goods, while Zoho One leads in breadth of front-office apps. The matrix compares the areas buyers ask about most.
| Area | Odoo 20 | Zoho One |
|---|---|---|
| Manufacturing | MRP with bills of materials, work orders, continuous production | No manufacturing modules in Zoho Inventory |
| Inventory | Suggested reorder levels, stock aging report, intercompany resupply | Zoho Inventory for orders and stock |
| Accounting | Pay bills from Odoo, bill line prediction, intercompany PO matching | Zoho Books |
| CRM | Lead generation sources, upsells from subscriptions | Zoho CRM, a mature standalone CRM |
| HR and payroll | Guided pay runs, net-to-gross simulation, Light User self-service | Zoho People and Zoho Payroll apps |
| Helpdesk | Odoo Helpdesk in the same database | Zoho Desk |
| Customization | Studio plus Python modules (Custom plan) | Zoho Creator, 1,000 developer API calls per employee a day |
| Hosting | Odoo Online, Odoo.sh or your own servers | Zoho-owned data centers in the US, Europe or Asia |
| AI | Odoo AI on prepaid IAP credits, MCP server | Zia AI across Zoho apps |
Zoho says its data is stored in "Zoho-owned servers in the United States, Europe, or Asia," and lists the Creator API limit in its Zoho One FAQ. The Odoo 20 items come from our Odoo 20 release notes.
What does Odoo 20 add for manufacturing and inventory that Zoho One lacks?
Odoo 20 adds continuous production, split manufacturing orders and data-driven reorder levels, while Zoho Inventory still has no manufacturing modules. For product companies, this is usually the deciding gap.
Zoho's own help center says "As of now, we are yet to support manufacturing modules." Composite items cover simple kits without a bill of materials.
Odoo 20 goes further in the same database:
- Continuous production: the next work order can start as soon as some units are done.
- Split orders: an order in progress moves the remaining quantity to a backorder in one click.
- MO cost: shows planned cost while open and real cost once done.
- Reorder suggestions: minimum and maximum levels calculated from demand history.
- Stock aging: a report that shows how old the stock on hand is.
How do AI costs compare: Odoo 20 IAP credits vs Zoho Zia?
Odoo 20 AI is paid per use through Odoo AI credits, while Zoho builds its Zia AI into its apps. Budget Odoo AI as a running cost, not a one-off setting.
In Odoo 20, the settings for your own OpenAI or Gemini key are gone. Odoo's documentation says AI usage consumes Odoo AI IAP credits, priced at EUR 1 each with 20 free credits to test. Credits never expire.
As an illustration only, a team that uses 100 credits a month adds EUR 100 a month. All 20 AI changes in Odoo 20, including agents with scheduled triggers and an MCP server, are Enterprise only.
Zoho markets Zia Agents for building AI agents across its apps. Check the AI limits and any extra charges in your Zoho One edition before you compare. Our Odoo 20 AI credits cost breakdown shows how to budget usage.
Customization, API limits and hosting: Odoo 20 vs Zoho One
Odoo 20 gives you more control over code, data and hosting, while Zoho One keeps everything inside Zoho's cloud and its platform limits. This matters most for integrations and data rules.
On Odoo, the external API is only available on Custom plans, according to the Odoo 20 external API documentation. XML-RPC and JSON-RPC are deprecated in Odoo 20, with removal scheduled for Odoo 22, so new integrations should use the JSON-2 API.
On Zoho One, Creator's developer API allows 1,000 calls per employee a day. That is generous for a large team, but busy syncs still need batching.
For hosting, Odoo runs on Odoo Online, Odoo.sh or your own servers. Our guide to Odoo Online vs Odoo.sh vs on-premise compares the three.

Odoo vs Zoho One case study: LabMart
A healthcare SaaS company kept Zoho Desk for tickets and ran Odoo alongside it for escalations and CRM, with one AI agent working across both. LabMart operates in the USA and India.
Support tickets had grown four times year on year, and first-response times had slipped from 2 hours to 18 hours. Two generic AI helpdesk tools had failed on the company's clinical terminology.
We built an AI agent wired into Zoho Desk for tickets and Odoo Helpdesk for internal escalations, with Odoo CRM updated on every customer-impacting ticket. Anything below a 78% confidence score goes to a human for review.
The agent went live in 7 weeks. It handles 1,800 tickets a week, auto-classifies 92% of them and cut first response from 18 hours to 4.5 minutes. Read the LabMart Zoho Desk and Odoo AI case study.
The bottom line on Odoo 20 vs Zoho One
Choose Odoo 20 when part of your team only needs self-service or you make and stock products; choose Zoho One when nearly everyone works in front-office apps every day. Both now price the wider workforce, at very different rates.
Split your headcount by role, price all four plans, then add implementation, migration and AI usage over five years. The answer is usually clear after that, and a hybrid is a real option.
