Exact Globe Next End of Life: How to Plan a Move to Odoo by 2027
Exact Globe Next support ends in 2027. Compare Exact Globe+, Exact Online and Odoo, then plan data, finance cut-over, timeline and cost for your move.
Exact Globe Next end of life is a deadline, not a disaster, if you start planning now. Our Odoo migration services cover the move from Exact Globe to Odoo, from data mapping to the first month-end close.
This guide is for finance managers and owners of Dutch and Belgian firms on Exact Globe Next. For other aging systems, our guide to legacy ERP replacement with Odoo covers the general signs and a 90-day plan.
When is the Exact Globe Next end of life?
Exact Globe Next reaches end of support at the end of 2027, after the final full service pack was released in March 2026. The software keeps running after that date, but it stops getting fixes and help.
Exact's own migration guide for Globe+ says Globe Next will be "supported by our support department until the end of 2027", with Payroll and e-Invoicing excluded from that statement. Exact also planned one last service pack for Dutch payroll in summer 2026.
The timeline below sums up what Exact has published so far.
| Date | What happens | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| March 2026 | Final full service pack for Globe Next | No more functional updates after this |
| Summer 2026 | Final Dutch payroll service pack (planned) | Payroll rule changes after this are not covered |
| End of 2027 | Support for Globe Next ends | No help desk, no bug fixes, no security fixes |
| After 2027 | New legal features only in Exact Globe+ | Peppol reception, KSeF and VERI*FACTU need a newer system |
Payroll and e-Invoicing are the two areas Exact excludes from the end-2027 statement. Ask your Exact account manager for the exact dates that apply to your licence before you build a plan around them.
What happens if you keep running Exact Globe Next after 2027?
You can keep running Globe Next after 2027, but every month adds risk to tax filings, bank links and security. Most firms that wait end up migrating under pressure later.
These are the problems that grow once support stops:
- Legal changes: new VAT rules, payroll tables and e-invoicing formats go only into Exact Globe+.
- Windows and SQL Server: new server or desktop updates can break an unsupported client with nobody to fix it.
- Bank and webshop links: banks and platforms change their file formats and APIs, and old connectors stop working.
- Add-on partners: third-party tools built on Globe Next lose their maintenance too.
Dutch rules also expect you to keep invoices for at least seven years, as Odoo's Netherlands e-invoicing page notes. So you need a plan for history too, not just for new transactions.
What are your options: Exact Globe+, Exact Online or an Exact Globe alternative?

You have four realistic paths: upgrade to Exact Globe+, move to Exact Online, switch to an Exact Globe alternative such as Odoo, or delay. Each one is a project, so compare them on effort, not just on licence price.
| Option | What it is | Effort and risk | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Exact Globe+ | Exact's successor, on new technology | Third-party links need extra attention; cannot run beside Globe Next | Firms happy with Exact that want the least change |
| Exact Online | Exact's cloud product | A new setup and data move, still in the Exact family | Smaller firms that want cloud and Dutch payroll in one vendor |
| Odoo | Modular ERP with accounting, stock, sales, manufacturing and more | A full implementation; one database for the whole business | Firms that have outgrown Globe or want more than finance |
| Delay | Keep Globe Next, unsupported | Low effort now, rising risk after 2027 | Only as a short bridge with a dated exit plan |
Exact says Globe+ "applies completely new technology", that you "cannot run Exact Globe+ and Exact Globe Next at the same time", and that you should talk to your third-party suppliers before you migrate. So even the same-vendor path needs testing.
If you are comparing licence models, our Odoo pricing guide explains what each Odoo plan includes.
Why choose Odoo as your Exact Globe alternative?
Odoo makes sense when Exact Globe is only your finance system and the rest of the business runs on spreadsheets, add-ons and separate tools. It puts sales, stock, purchasing, manufacturing, projects and accounting on one database.
On the Odoo pricing page, the US price billed yearly is US$31.10 per user a month for Standard and US$61.00 for Custom, with first-year discounts of US$24.90 and US$49.00. One app is free for unlimited users.
For Dutch firms, the Odoo Netherlands localization adds a Dutch chart of accounts and taxes, SBR reporting through a Digipoort certificate, XAF audit file export, and Dutch payroll and Intrastat modules.
Odoo also releases a new major version every year and supports each one for three years, as its support policy explains. Odoo 20 is released, so a 2027 go-live starts on a current version with a long runway.
How do you migrate from Exact to Odoo without losing control of your finance data?
Move master data and open items into Odoo, bring opening balances in at the cut-over date, and keep closed years in an archive. Do not try to copy every Exact transaction into Odoo.
The table maps the main Exact Globe data to Odoo.
| Exact Globe data | Odoo destination | Migration approach |
|---|---|---|
| Debtors and creditors | Contacts | Import with external IDs, clean duplicates first |
| General ledger accounts | Chart of accounts | Map to the Dutch Odoo chart, keep old codes in a reference field |
| Open items | Open invoices and bills | Import each open item so payments can reconcile |
| Items and price lists | Products and pricelists | Import with units, VAT codes and supplier data |
| Stock on hand | Inventory adjustment at cut-over | Count, then load quantities and values per warehouse |
| Closed years | Archive and audit files | Keep read-only exports for the seven-year retention period |
Exact's documentation names its XML import and export tool, ASImport.exe in Globe Next and Exact.XML.Launcher in Globe+. Combined with standard reports exported to spreadsheets, that gives you the files to clean and load.
On the Odoo side, use Odoo's import tools with external IDs so you can re-run loads safely. Our guide to Odoo database migration covers testing, batching and rollback.
How should you plan the finance cut-over from Exact Globe to Odoo?
Pick a cut-over date at the start of a period in 2027, load trial balance and open items as of that date, and run one month in parallel. The safest dates are the start of a quarter or the financial year.
Follow these steps in order:
- Choose the date: a quarter or year start in 2027, so no VAT return spans two systems.
- Freeze master data: stop creating new GL accounts, VAT codes and item groups in Exact a few weeks before.
- Close the last period in Exact: post all entries, run the VAT return and reconcile banks.
- Load opening balances: import the trial balance into Odoo through a clearing account and check it nets to zero.
- Load open items: import open sales invoices and purchase bills, then reconcile them to the opening receivable and payable balances.
- Run a parallel month: post the first month in Odoo and compare the results with the same month in Exact.
- Sign off and switch: your controller and accountant sign the reconciliation, and Exact goes read-only.
The clearing account trick comes from the Odoo forum, where an answer on migrating accounting data into Odoo suggests posting totals to a clearing account first, then loading itemized balances against it.
Why does going live in 2027 matter for year-end?
If you go live on 1 January 2028, you will close your 2027 books and file year-end returns on software that is no longer supported. Going live during 2027 avoids that trap.
Your final VAT return, annual accounts and audit for 2027 all run in early 2028, exactly when Globe Next help has ended. A problem in that window has no vendor fix.
A go-live on 1 July 2027, for example, gives you a half year in Odoo before year-end and lets your accountant close 2027 with the new system for the second half. Small firms with clean data can aim earlier.
How long does an Exact Globe to Odoo migration take, and what does it cost?
Most Exact Globe to Odoo migrations follow our published implementation ranges: 4 to 8 weeks for small firms, 8 to 14 weeks for mid-size and 12 to 24 weeks for large ones. Add time for history, integrations and payroll.
| Company size | Typical scope | Implementation range | Timeline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | Finance, sales, purchase, basic stock | $3k to $9k | 4 to 8 weeks |
| Mid-size | Plus warehouses, projects or light manufacturing | $9k to $27k | 8 to 14 weeks |
| Large | Several companies, manufacturing, integrations | $27k to $150k+ | 12 to 24 weeks |
| Data migration | Master data, open items, balances, chosen history | $1.2k to $9k | Runs inside the project |
These ranges come from our Odoo implementation cost page. They are not fixed; the source system, years of history and custom reports move the number.

Which industries feel the Exact Globe Next end of life most?
Firms that use Globe Next for more than bookkeeping feel it most, because stock, production and payroll add more to move. The table shows the usual pain points by sector.
| Industry | Pain or cost driver | Odoo approach | How iVentureTeam helps |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wholesale and distribution | Stock, price lists and EDI add-ons on Globe | Inventory, purchase and routes in one database | Map items and price lists, rebuild order flows |
| Manufacturing | BOMs and production tied to old add-ons | Odoo MRP with work orders and costing | Rebuild BOMs and routings, test costing |
| Professional services | Hours and billing in separate tools | Projects, timesheets and invoicing together | Set up billing rules and project margins |
| Retail and eCommerce | Webshop connectors that will stop being maintained | Website, POS and stock in one system | Connect channels through our Odoo integration services |
| Multi-company groups | Separate administrations and manual consolidation | Multi-company with intercompany rules | Design the company structure and eliminations |

Exact Globe to Odoo migration case study: Fernando Tax Management B.V.
A Dutch tax advisory replaced a rigid legacy system with a customized Odoo 18 in 10 weeks. Its old system was not Exact, but the problems will sound familiar to any Globe Next user.
Fernando Tax Management B.V. was founded in 2008 and serves clients in the Netherlands and Curaçao. Its legacy system could not adapt to the firm's processes, had no customization path, and depended on hand-keyed data that produced duplicate records.
iVentureTeam moved the firm to Odoo 18, built an office cost tracking workflow into Sales and Purchase, fixed a hidden journal lines issue and delivered localized, multi-language tax compliance reports for both jurisdictions.
The firm now runs its processes on one Odoo platform and cut manual data entry by 60%. Read the Fernando Tax Management Odoo accounting case study.
The bottom line on Exact Globe Next end of life
Treat the end of 2027 as your last safe date, not your start date: choose a path in early 2027 and go live by mid-2027. That keeps your 2027 close in a supported system.
Exact Globe+ is the shortest path if finance is all you run. If Exact is one of many tools, Odoo replaces the patchwork. Either way, map your data, test your add-ons and fix your cut-over date now. Our Odoo migration guide covers the methods and risks in more depth.
