Odoo Amazon Integration: Setup, Sync Scope, Limits and Cost cover

Most "Odoo Amazon integration" articles promise one-click sync and skip the part where finance still types settlement figures by hand. This guide lists what Odoo's connector covers, what it leaves out, and what each gap costs to close. Our Odoo integration services start with that scope question.

It is written for Amazon sellers, eCommerce managers and finance leads choosing between the standard connector, an Apps store module and a custom build. Already live and upgrading? Read our guide on Odoo 20 upgrade risk for eCommerce integrations first.

What does the Odoo Amazon connector actually sync?

The Odoo Amazon connector synchronizes confirmed orders from Amazon to Odoo, and sends stock levels and shipment confirmations back for merchant-fulfilled orders. Odoo's documentation is specific about the scope, and the table follows it.

AreaFulfilled by Amazon (FBA)Fulfilled by Merchant (FBM)
OrdersShipped and cancelled orders are fetchedUnshipped and cancelled orders are fetched
Order linesProduct, shipping and gift-wrap linesSame, plus the gift message on the delivery
StockAmazon manages it; Odoo records a move to a virtual Amazon locationOdoo manages it and pushes available quantity to Amazon
DeliveryDone by AmazonA delivery order is created in Odoo; confirming it notifies Amazon
TrackingHandled by AmazonA tracking reference is mandatory on every FBM shipment
Customer dataIn North America, the customer name is no longer passed on FBA ordersCustomer and delivery address created in Odoo

Odoo's Amazon Connector features page also confirms multiple seller accounts and multiple marketplaces per account. It adds a plain note: fee reports, disputes and refunds "must be managed from the Amazon Seller Central, as usual."

Orders are fetched at regular intervals, and only orders whose Amazon status changed since the last run are pulled. When Amazon cancels an order that already reached Odoo, the Odoo sales order is cancelled automatically.

Which Odoo plan and edition include Amazon integration?

The Amazon Connector is an Enterprise module, so it is not available in Odoo Community, but it is included in the Standard plan without needing Custom. Two facts on Odoo's own pages settle this.

First, Odoo's edition comparison marks Amazon Connector as Enterprise only. Community users need an Apps store module or a custom link; our Odoo Community vs Enterprise comparison covers the wider trade-off.

Second, the Odoo pricing page defines External API as external software that initiates calls to Odoo. When Odoo initiates the call, as this connector does, "it is part of the standard plan." A Standard subscription at US$31.10 per user a month billed yearly covers it.

The Custom plan at US$61.00 per user a month is needed when a middleware or sync tool calls into Odoo, or when Apps store modules require Odoo.sh or on-premise hosting. Odoo Online does not allow third-party apps, which matters for the eBay options below.

How do you set up Odoo Amazon integration step by step?

Setting up the Odoo Amazon connector takes an afternoon when products and taxes are ready, and weeks when they are not. The steps follow the Amazon Connector configuration guide, plus the preparation most teams skip.

  1. Hold a paid Seller account: Odoo requires one, and Amazon's Professional plan is the tier that includes app and API access.
  2. Prepare products: set each product's Internal Reference to match its Amazon SKU, because that is how Odoo matches order lines.
  3. Prepare taxes: put the right taxes on products or fiscal positions so Odoo and Seller Central totals agree.
  4. Enable Amazon Sync: in Sales, open Configuration, Settings, Connectors, tick Amazon Sync and save.
  5. Create the account: under Amazon Accounts click New, name it, pick the Home Marketplace, save, then click Link with Amazon and approve the consent page.
  6. Prune marketplaces: Odoo lists the marketplaces available to the account; remove any you do not want synchronized.
  7. Set carriers for FBM: create carriers whose names Amazon recognizes, and decide how tracking references get filled.
  8. Test in developer mode: use Sync Orders and Sync Pickings to force a run, then check one FBA and one FBM order end to end.

The default list covers Amazon.com, .ca and .com.mx, plus .de, .es, .fr, .co.uk, .it and .nl. Any other marketplace, Amazon.in included, is added in developer mode with its Marketplace ID, region and Seller Central URL, then activated with Update available marketplaces.

How does SKU matching work, and why do orders show "Amazon Sale"?

Odoo matches each Amazon order line to a product by comparing the Amazon SKU with the product's Internal Reference, and falls back to a generic product called Amazon Sale when nothing matches. Shipping has the same fallback, named Amazon Shipping.

Each successful match is saved as an Amazon Offer under the Offers smart button on the account. Later orders use the offer first, then the Internal Reference. You can edit an offer to force a pairing when your SKUs do not follow your Odoo references.

The fallback is where margins and stock go wrong: a line on Amazon Sale reserves no real product and carries no real cost. One seller asked the Odoo forum how to sync Amazon products under their own names instead of Amazon Sales and got no reply.

Clean SKUs before you connect, then review Amazon Sale lines weekly until none appear.

What are the Odoo Amazon connector limitations?

The Odoo Amazon connector limitations cluster around anything that is not an order: catalog, pricing, inbound FBA stock, returns and money. Knowing them before go-live avoids the most common post-launch complaint, "we thought it would do that."

  • No product import or export: products must exist in Odoo first; the connector does not create listings or pull catalog data.
  • No price sync: Amazon prices and Odoo pricelists are maintained separately.
  • FBA stock is not pulled from Amazon: you create a transfer when you send stock in and adjust after replenishment. One Odoo 18 user confirmed FBM stock synced correctly but FBA stock was not syncing from Amazon to Odoo.
  • No returns or refunds: credit notes for Amazon returns are manual.
  • No settlement or fee reports: commissions, advertising and FBA fees arrive as a net payout that Odoo does not import.
  • Invoices cannot be emailed: Amazon withholds customer emails, so invoices are uploaded to Seller Central by hand, and B2B VAT numbers are copied from Amazon first.
  • Seller Central only: Vendor Central accounts are not covered.
  • Small tax differences: Odoo warns that totals can differ by a few cents and recommends a write-off at reconciliation.

None of these are bugs. They are scope. Odoo built an order connector, and it does that job reliably across many seller accounts and marketplaces.

How do you handle Amazon payouts and settlements in Odoo accounting?

Amazon pays sellers a net amount at intervals, so Odoo needs a dedicated Amazon Payments journal and batch payments rather than one bank line per order. Odoo's order management guide describes the method.

Create a bank journal for Amazon with its own intermediary account. Register customer payments against Amazon invoices in that journal using Batch Deposit, group them with Create batch payment, and book Amazon's commission bills the same way.

When the net payout lands in the real bank account, credit the intermediary account by that amount. The gap between gross invoices and the payout should equal fees, refunds and advertising, which is what the settlement report lists.

A finance person with hundreds of orders a week will not key settlement lines by hand for long. Automating settlement import is the most common custom piece we add, and it follows the flow in our guide to how Odoo Accounting works from invoice to statements.

Standard connector, Apps store module or custom integration: which fits?

Odoo Amazon Integration: Standard, Apps store or custom build?

Choose the standard connector when orders and FBM stock are the whole problem, an Apps store module when you need returns and settlements on Odoo.sh or on-premise, and custom work when your flows are unusual. The table compares the three.

CriterionStandard Odoo connectorApps store connectorCustom integration

HostingOdoo Online, Odoo.sh, on-premiseOdoo.sh or on-premise onlyAny, via API or module
Licence costIncludedOne-off plus optional monthlyBuild cost, no licence

For reference, one widely used Amazon connector on the Odoo Apps store lists at US$616.25 per Odoo version, with usage packs at EUR 99 a month or EUR 999 a year after three free months. Settlement import in that module is Enterprise only.

Apps store modules are bought per Odoo version and are not upgraded for you, so budget a new licence or upgrade fee at each major release.

A custom build makes sense when Amazon is one of several channels. Our JD Central project, a two-way marketplace integration built in Odoo, syncs products, categories, inventory, customers and orders on a schedule.

What happened to Odoo eBay integration?

Odoo's own eBay connector exists in the Odoo 17 documentation and is gone from Odoo 18, 19 and 20, so Odoo eBay integration now means a third-party module or a custom link. This catches sellers who chose Odoo partly for eBay.

The Odoo 17 docs described a full listing tool: list or link products, revise and relist items, sync stock quantities and pull sales as draft orders. Users on the Odoo forum reported learning the eBay connector was deprecated in 18 and found Apps store alternatives mixed.

Today the choices are an Apps store eBay connector, which runs on Community or Enterprise but not on Odoo Online, or a custom integration with the eBay APIs. One established eBay connector on the Apps store lists at US$704.93 per version.

If eBay is a small channel, importing orders on a schedule and keeping listings in eBay's own tools is often enough. If it is a main channel, scope the listing sync properly, because that is where the complexity and the upgrade cost sit.

Which marketplaces does Odoo 20 connect to out of the box?

Odoo 20 ships connectors for Amazon, Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop, and none for eBay, Walmart, Flipkart or Etsy. Our Odoo 20 Sales release notes list the Lazada and TikTok Shop connectors, added in Odoo 19, under a Marketplaces menu.

The Amazon Connector documentation for 20.0 is unchanged from 19.0, so the scope and limits above still apply. For your own storefront, our Odoo vs Shopify vs WooCommerce comparison shows how each pairs with Odoo as the back office. For every other marketplace, plan on a custom connector.

What does Odoo Amazon integration cost?

Configuring the standard Odoo Amazon connector is a small piece of work, while catalog, settlement and multi-channel stock automation are where the budget goes. The ranges below are planning ranges, not quotes.

Our published Odoo implementation cost ranges are small $3k to $9k over 4 to 8 weeks, mid-size $9k to $27k over 8 to 14 weeks, and large $27k to $150k+ over 12 to 24 weeks. Connector setup with SKU cleanup, tax checks and FBM carrier rules usually sits inside the small band.

Adding a settlement importer, FBA inbound transfers and return handling is typically mid-band work, and an illustrative multi-channel project with Amazon, Shopify and POS stock logic can reach the large band. Data migration adds $1.2k to $9k depending on the source system and years of history.

Recurring costs are the Odoo subscription, Amazon's Professional selling plan, any Apps store licence and usage pack, and a maintenance budget for each Odoo major version. For a quick first number, use the Odoo project estimate tool before asking for a scoped quote.

Which industries get the most from Odoo Amazon integration?

Sellers with real inventory, several channels and tax exposure across countries gain the most, because that is where manual order entry and stock drift cost the most. The table shows the typical pattern by industry.

Odoo Amazon integration case study: DeenSqure

A multi-region D2C retailer selling on Amazon, Shopify and in stores moved to Odoo 19 with one SKU ledger across six channels. DeenSqure operates in the USA and UAE and had run Odoo 14 for five years.

Inventory drift across Shopify, Amazon and the physical stores was causing overselling, and $2.1M of orders had been canceled in the prior 12 months. Twenty-three custom modules from three earlier partners made every change risky.

We built a custom multi-channel connector with a single SKU ledger across Shopify, Amazon and POS, with idempotent Shopify and Amazon webhooks so no order books twice under load. A reconciliation pass before cutover caught 14% stock drift.

Three months after go-live, stock accuracy across all six channels sits at 99.7%, 14 hours of weekly manual reconciliation are gone, and order-to-ship time fell from 26 hours to 9. The project took 11 weeks. Read the DeenSqure Odoo, Shopify and Amazon case study.

The bottom line on Odoo Amazon integration

Odoo's Amazon Connector is a dependable order and FBM stock sync that is included with Enterprise, and it is not a full marketplace suite. Decide up front who owns catalog, prices, returns and settlements, then fill those gaps deliberately.

Clean SKUs, correct taxes and an Amazon payments journal get most sellers live on the standard connector. Settlement automation, FBA inbound flows and any eBay link are separate, scoped pieces of work, and pricing them that way avoids surprises.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Odoo integrate with Amazon?

+

Yes. Odoo Enterprise includes an Amazon Connector that imports confirmed FBA and FBM orders, creates customers, pushes FBM stock to Amazon and confirms shipments with tracking. Products, prices, returns and settlements are outside its scope.

Is the Odoo Amazon connector free?

+

It is included in Odoo Enterprise on the Standard plan, with no extra licence, because Odoo initiates the calls to Amazon. It is not in Odoo Community. You still pay for a paid Amazon Seller account.

Does the Odoo Amazon connector sync FBA inventory?

+

Not from Amazon to Odoo. Odoo records a stock move in a virtual Amazon location for each FBA order, but you must create transfers when you send stock in and adjust after replenishment. Pulling live FBA quantities needs a third-party module or custom code.

Which Amazon marketplaces does Odoo support?

+

Nine by default: Amazon.com, .ca and .com.mx, plus .de, .es, .fr, .co.uk, .it and .nl. Others, including Amazon.in, can be added in developer mode with the Marketplace ID, region and Seller Central URL.

Can Odoo send invoices to Amazon customers?

+

No. Amazon does not share customer email addresses, so invoices generated in Odoo are uploaded to Seller Central manually. For B2B orders, VAT numbers are copied from Amazon before the invoice is created.

Does Odoo have an eBay connector?

+

Not any more. Odoo's own eBay connector is documented up to Odoo 17 and is absent from Odoo 18, 19 and 20. eBay sellers use an Apps store module on Odoo.sh or on-premise, or a custom integration with the eBay APIs.

Why do Amazon orders in Odoo show a product called Amazon Sale?

+

Because the Amazon SKU did not match any product's Internal Reference and no Amazon Offer existed. Align SKUs with internal references or edit the offer to force the pairing, then review Amazon Sale lines until none appear.

How much does Odoo Amazon integration cost?

+

Standard connector setup usually fits inside a small project band of $3k to $9k, while settlement import, FBA flows and multi-channel stock logic reach the $9k to $27k band. Apps store connectors add roughly $600 to $700 per Odoo version plus optional monthly packs.

Does the connector work on Odoo Online?

+

Yes, the standard Amazon Connector works on Odoo Online, Odoo.sh and on-premise. Apps store connectors for Amazon or eBay do not, because Odoo Online does not allow third-party module installation.
