The challenge
The retailer's growth model was ambitious: sell groceries online, in stores, and through a mobile app, while a network of commission-earning agents drove referrals. But each channel added operational surface area, and no off-the-shelf tool handled the agent economics.
- Website, in-store POS, and mobile orders needed to land in one inventory and accounting system, not three.
- Agent commissions depended on sales targets and the size of each agent's child network — logic no standard eCommerce platform supports.
- Agent levels had to change automatically as performance changed, without manual recalculation.
- Online payments had to work identically on the website and the Android app.
Our approach
iVentureTeam implemented Odoo as the single commercial backbone, then built the storefront, mobile app, payments, and commission engine on top of it.
Storefront and mobile channels on one backend
- Designed and developed a grocery-specific eCommerce theme on the Odoo website builder.
- Built an Android mobile application that runs the full eCommerce workflow — browsing, cart, checkout — against the Odoo backend.
- Deployed Odoo Point of Sale for in-store transactions, sharing the same catalog and stock as the online channels.
Payments and core operations
- Integrated the RazorPay payment gateway with both the Odoo website and the Android app for a consistent checkout.
- Configured Sales, CRM, and Accounting & Invoicing so every order, lead, and payment reconciles automatically in one place.
Custom channel commission engine
- Built a multi-level channel system in Odoo where commissions are calculated from each agent's sales target and child network.
- Made agent levels dynamic — hit the target, grow the network, and the system promotes the agent automatically.
- Kept the whole scheme configurable: the retailer defines its own levels, targets, and network sizes without developer help.
Outcomes
The retailer now runs three sales channels and an incentive-driven agent network from one Odoo instance, with commission math that used to require spreadsheets happening automatically at the point of sale.
- Every order — web, store, or app — flows into the same inventory, invoicing, and CRM records.
- Agent commissions and level changes compute automatically from live sales data, ending manual payout calculations.
- RazorPay checkout works uniformly across web and Android, reducing payment drop-offs. // [PLACEHOLDER]
- New commission tiers or targets can be rolled out through configuration, not code changes.
“Seller onboarding, commissions, and payouts run themselves now. We manage the marketplace instead of the spreadsheets behind it.”
